TAL
An original Dance-Theatre solo performance by Tal Levy Cohen
Winner of the Ministry of Culture grant for cultural export 2023
Performances on Broadway 2023 and Edinburgh 2022
Winner of the "Bride of Excellence" award for performance
and "Audience Favorite", Russia 2021.
Online performances in Broadway, London, Edinburgh, New Jersey, New Zealand, Sydney, Manchester and more.
The show is based on Tal's personal process as a girl-woman-dancer -
dealing with the eating disorder bulimia, from which she recovered and she created, choreographed and performing.
"A brave show that reveals the soul and can inspire many people,
Tal allows us to better understand our responsibilities as parents and as human beings."
(Shuli Ziv, former executive director of the ZOA, former director of the Haifa Theater)
Referring to the theories she learned in her therapy studies
and with an honest artistic physical expression,
Tal goes back in time and relives the memories
and events that happened in her life,
as a child of divorced parents
and as a student majoring in dance
and illustrates how she "put on" herself the disease.
It describes the mental impact of the circumstances of our lives on us and the impact of the environment on us and especially on the eating disorder - bulimia.
The show leaves viewers with personal and universal insights
into the meaning of the conversation between us,
and on the importance of our understanding of ourselves
and the way the body and mind work.
The show is approved by the ministry of culture & education for ages +14
"An important and thoughtful piece of art"
A YOUNGER THEATRE
"Tal's abilities to fly, get exposed and break forward are amazing.
The discourse around addictions, body image, femininity and 'above what is expected' are illustrated by her in the most authentic and powerful way."
(Limor Wexbalt, creative actress)
